Make Music A Part Of Your Life!
Michael Eckstein
Guitar & Ukulele Instructor
Michael Eckstein is a guitarist with over 25 years of playing experience.  While attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, he focused on guitar and arranging and received a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Composition, graduating with honors.  Michael has studied guitar with an array of teachers including Bud Dimock, Jon Damian, Gabe Cornella, John Wilkins, Joe Rogers, Steve Carter, Brett Wilmott, John Stowell, and Eric Bart.

As a songwriter and sideman, he has worked in renowned recording studios such as The Hangar, Monster Lab, Tempest, and Skyline.  In 2009 Michael released a full length cd of original music entitled “Far West Day Dream."  His recordings of famous western songs are featured along side versions by Bob Dylan and Ramblin' Jack Elliot on the official Bob Nolan website.  As a soloist and band member, Michael has played at many venues around the Bay Area.  He is seen and heard on streaming formats such as YouTube, Spotify, and iTunes.

Since 1998 Michael has been teaching lessons to people of all ages.  He believes in a well-rounded curriculum to develop skills in note reading, song melody, chords, strumming, fingerstyle, and plectrum playing.  Ear training, music theory, songwriting, and improvisation are also explored.  Students can learn a variety of styles including pop, folk, classical, rock, jazz, country, Latin, blues, funk, ethnic/world music, religious, and holiday songs.  Michael teaches from traditional method books, guitar tablature, transcriptions, and audio/video recordings.  During our recitals, Michael may accompany students on stage and in lessons plays guitar, ukulele, and bass, giving them experience in a band setting.  His diverse background as an educator, songwriter, composer, arranger, and performer of cover songs allows him to tailor lessons to individual interests and needs.
